Good Recipes and Bad Women: kitchen secrets from three food writers

An evening of delicious words and delicious food with three local and influential writers and cooks. Come and hear tasty extracts from their work, and sample some mouth watering treats.

Sherry Ashworth

Sherry Ashworth is an award-winning author of 18 novels for adults and young people based in Whitefield. Her latest book for adults Good Recipes and Bad Women is a feelgood romantic comedy with food at its heart, set in a Jewish family in south London, 1967. Sherry is also a Patron of the Prestwich Book Festival.

Clarissa Hyman

Clarissa Hyman is a freelance food and travel writer based in north Manchester. She has won many awards including the prestigious Glenfiddich Award for food writing (twice), contributes to a wide range of publications and has written four books: Cucina Siciliana, The Jewish Kitchen, The Spanish Kitchen and, this year, Oranges: A Global History. She is the vice-president of the UK Guild of Food Writers, and a member of the International Association for Culinary Professionals.

Jane Hughes

Jane Hughes is a vegetarian food writer and current Secretary of the Guild of Food Writers. Based in Prestwich, she edits The Vegetarian magazine for The Vegetarian Society UK and teaches at the Cordon Vert Cookery School in Altrincham. Her book, The Adventurous Vegetarian, will be published in October.
