Children's Book Festival at Prestwich Clough Day - May 18, 2014
Welcome to our tent of marvels. For the first time we're teaming up with Prestwich Clough Day to present a free mini book festival just for kids. No need to book, just roll up to our marquee. Here are all the details, including show times:
Storytelling 12.15 & 4.15pm
With Manchester's top yarn spinner Honor Giles. Stories for all ages, but especially those aged 3-12 and their families
Whooossshh! 1pm (45 mins)
A fun and interactive 'dad' themed drawing workshop with children's author Vanessa Lees based on her book Whooossshh. For budding artists aged 4+ and their families
We have 10 copies of Jack and The Beanstalk And Other Beany Stories, Poems and Jokes to give away to the first ten children who visit the marquee.
The books have been donated by Beanstalk, a charity that sends volunteers to help children read in primary schools. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer reader, check out the Beanstalk website, or follow the Twitter account @NWbeanstalk
Spark, the Goblin Wizard 2pm (50 mins)
A play from award winning poet Dommy B, suitable for ages 5+ and their families.
Spark’s magic can transform anything.
He’ll turn the bogeys up his nose ... into some pink ribbons and bows.
He’ll make a gorgeous high heeled shoe ... out of a pile of donkey poo.
But terrible things have started to happen in his forest ...
I Can Draw My Alphabet 3.15pm (45 mins)
Poetry, drawing and colouring for children aged 3-8 with artist/illustrator Paul Neads and Prestwich's own performance poet Longfella to keep you laughing and rhyming.
